IRENE CARA
Irene catapulted to stardom in 1980 when she won the role of Coco Hernandez in the box office smash "Fame". She would go on to make Academy Award history that year becoming the only performer ever to sing two Academy nominated songs, "Fame" and "Out There on My Own" - in one evening.
In 1983 Irene added to her stardom - winning an Academy Award for best original song when she wrote and sang "What A Feeling" for the hit movie "Flashdance". The song would become a No.#1 record, and later that year earned Cara a Grammy Award. Recently, "What A Feeling" was ranked #67 on VH-1's 100 greatest dance songs.
HOT CARAMEL
Today, Irene Cara is busy working and recording with her new band "Hot Caramel", a nine (9) piece all female band. They've recently completed their first CD, and are gearing up to hit the tour circuit later this year.
