Singers / Songwriters / Music Producers

Two of the most popular singers and song- writers in music today are Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson.  This husband and wife team have been writing songs together for over 30 years.

In this interview, Nick and Val discuss their first big break when Ray Charles recorded one of their compositions.   From there, the duo went on to a successful stint at Motown Records where they wrote such mega hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand."

Ashford and Simpson, who are great performers in their own right, also discuss their latest venture--their nightclub called "The Sugar Bar" in New York City.

This is a truly rare interview of  two talented and dynamic people. Taped 2000 and shot on location at "The Sugar Bar" in New York City.
